What does X-ELIO do?

Development & financing

Promotion, development and financing of renewable (SOLAR & BESS) energy projects prior to their construction. Implementation of community, institutional and reputational engagement strategies.

Construction

X-ELIO manages project construction, from site planning to overseeing the work of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractors responsible for the final build.

Operation and maintenance

Once the project is grid-connected, X-ELIO begins its role as operator, ensuring optimal performance. This involves monitoring operational efficiency based on climate conditions and managing financial deviations that could impact budgeted costs.

Commercialization

X-ELIO commercializes its assets through various methods, including buying and selling assets at any stage—whether under development or operational. This phase also involves establishing power purchase agreements (PPAs) and managing project revenues.

Our history

2005

· Gestamp Asetym Solar is created.

2008

· First connection: Albanilla, Spain.

2009-2014

· Operations continued to grow consistently with the first connections in Italy, USA, Peru and Japan.
· The company expanded its network of offices to Tokyo, South Africa, Mexico, USA and Italy.

2015

· Participation in the KKR Global Infrastructure Investor II Fund with an 80% share.

X-ELIO is born.

2016

· Concession of 244 MW in Mexico.
· X-ELIO becomes signatory of the UN Global Compact.

2017

· Uribe connection.
· Awarding of 455 MW in Spain.
· Refinancing of 92.56 million euros through a singlebond.
· Awarding of 250 MW in Mexico.
· Awarding of 37 MW in Japan.
· Opening of office in Australia.

2018

· PPA with Nexus Energía: Construction of 50 MW in Spain.
· Partnership with Sofos Harbert to develop solar projects in the USA.
· Acquisition of project Lily in the USA.

2019

· Brookfield acquires a 50% stake in X-ELIO together with former stakeholder KKR.
· Construction of 455 MW in Spain.

2020

· X-ELIO builds its 2nd solar PV plant in Mexico.
· X-ELIO activates all the plants allocated to the power awarded in the 2017 renewable energy auction in Spain.
· X-ELIO and Salesforce sign a pioneering PPA for the Blue Grass solar farm in Australia.
· X-ELIO’s CEO, Lluís Noguera, is named “Best CEO in the Solar Power Industry” in Western Europe.
· X-ELIO starts construction of its largest solar farm in Australia.

2021

· X-ELIO, the largest PV energy awardee in the Spanish renewable energy auction with 315 MW.
· X-ELIO joins the UN global programme to accelerate business action in the integration of the SDGs.
· X-ELIO calculates global GHG emissions of scope 1, 2 and 3.

2022

• X-ELIO's first battery project
• 15 MW awarded in Japan’s first Feed-in Premium auction
• Blue Grass Solar Farm (200 MW) inaugurated in Australia
• $53M financing with Societe Generale and ING for Sodegaura (Japan)
• 12-year PPA signed with BASF for Freeport in the US

2023

• Brookfield Renewable acquires 100% of X-ELIO
• Joint Venture with DUTCO to launch X-NOOR in the GCC
• €102M financing with BBVA and Santander for three projects in Spain

2024

• Entry into Germany through acquisition of Eco Stor
• €89M financing with Societe Generale for 3 projects in Spain
• DWS acquires 147 MW solar portfolio in Spain
• 128 MW PPA signed with Google in Texas (USA)
