Lluís Noguera, President and CEO of X-ELIO, informs on the company’s portfolio of renewable and sustainable energy projects.
The firm has been in Spain for more than 17 years, and operates one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the province of Alicante.
Alicante, 8th of June 2022
X-ELIO, a leading global company specialized in the development of renewable and sustainable energy projects, is strongly committed to the reduction of greenhouse gases, the fight against climate change and the mitigation of the dependence on imported gas that is driving up the price of electricity for thousands of Spanish households.
The president and CEO of X-ELIO, Lluís Noguera, has informed the media about the company’s portfolio in the Region and how they work to minimise possible negative impacts through a correct sustainable management of the environment.
The company’s president also explained his proposals on current issues as relevant as the need to reduce energy costs while contributing to the fight against climate change.
«For many years X-ELIO has been strongly committed to mitigating the environmental and social impact of electricity generation. The electricity production through solar photovoltaic plants significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and will also significantly reduce the cost of the electricity bill»
Lluís Noguera, President and CEO of X-ELIO
X-ELIO’s presence in the world is reflected in 2.6 GW built, more than 500 MW currently under construction and a project pipeline of nearly 9 GW.
With more than 17 years of development in Spain, the province of Alicante is one of the regions with the highest activity for the company, which makes it a strategic territory of special interest for X-ELIO. Currently in the region, the company has a plant in operation since 2021 with a capacity of 35 MW, which involved an investment of 25 million euros, and six plants in the pipeline in the province, totalling around 400 MWp.
Environmental and social approach
The company develops renewable energy projects in different countries and regions, adapting to the specific needs of each context and seeking ways to minimise the impact on the environment and the communities in which it operates.
X-ELIO therefore compiles and analyses various environmental indicators for all its projects and offices in the regions in which it operates. These indicators range from fuel, electricity and water consumption to kilograms of scrap, wood and cardboard waste recycled. With this indicator analysis, X-ELIO develops compensatory measures adapted to the needs of each project in order to minimise its impact on the environment.
In order to encourage the values of social responsibility that it promotes, X-ELIO carries out numerous actions included in the so-called Community Plan Programme, a set of local and regional actions aimed at improving the quality of life and the environmental and socio-economic development of all the communities in which X-ELIO operates.
In this regard, Lluís Noguera highlighted the coordination with environmental organisations in order to contribute to programmes for the preservation and recovery of native fauna, together with the performance of environmental studies aimed at reducing the impact on the natural environment. Among these, the agreement signed with GREFA (Group for the Rehabilitation of Native Fauna and its Habitat) to help develop the populations of cernícalo primilla (falco naumanni) in southeastern Spain is worth mentioning.
