X-ELIO respalda las comunidades locales de las regiones en las que opera globalmente y lanza un fondo comunitario en Australia

X-ELIO has recently launched a Community Fund of up to $200,000 to promote the social and economic development of local communities in the Western Downs region of Australia

This initiative is part of X-ELIO’s Community Plan programme, a series of local and regional actions that reaffirms its commitment to the socio-economic development of the communities in which it operates, under the pillars of environment, education, health and community.

In addition to Australia, X-ELIO has already carried out collaborative initiatives with local communities in Latin America and Spain, through agreements with several associations.

February 1st 2022.– X-ELIO, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, has given a new boost to its objective of social and economic revitalisation in the different regions in which it operates. Specifically, the company has launched a $200,000 Community Fund in Australia to promote the social and economic development of local communities in the Western Downs region, where its Blue Grass solar plant is located.

This Community Plan Fund is part of X-ELIO’s Community Plan programme, the company’s broader mission to invest in the sustainability and vitality of the communities in which it operates to drive local, positive and lasting change, focusing on four pillars: Community, Environment, Health and Education.

On this occasion, the company invites local groups, associations, organisations and individuals to submit an application, which will support projects with up to $200,000 in finance available through the fund.

Located in Chinchilla, the 200 MW Blue Grass solar plant is X-ELIO’s largest development in this country, with a capital investment of $215 million in regional Queensland. The project will power 80,000 local homes and provide an expected 420 GWh of sustainable energy per year. Since the start of construction in October 2020, the solar plant has created approximately 400 new construction jobs for the local Western Downs region.

Supporting different communities globally

Through these type of initiatives, X-Elio aims to create a link with local communities and support social development in all the markets in which it operates. It is of vital importance for the company to actively support the development of the communities where it is present. This can be seen in the various actions that have been carried out over the years.

In 2021, X-ELIO launched a joint initiative with ACERA (Chilean Association of Renewable Energy and Storage) and REDEG (Network for Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) for the implementation of a mentoring project aimed at women in Chile’s renewable energy sector. Similarly, it also supported the training of students through a collaboration agreement with the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Perote, thanks to which Renewable Energy engineering students were able to carry out their internships at the X-ELIO plant in the municipality of Perote, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

Other actions also include a collaboration agreement with Down Madrid, the aim of which was to promote and carry out all activities aimed at improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities; the collaboration agreement with the Group for the Rehabilitation of Native Fauna and their Habitat (GREFA) to recover the populations of the lesser kestrel in south-eastern Spain, and the collaboration agreement with AEMENER (Spanish Association of Energy Women) focused on promoting the role of women in the energy sector and, specifically, in the field of renewable energies.
