X-ELIO covers all the power awarded in the 2017 renewable energy auction in Spain

X-ELIO has assigned all the power assigned in the second renewable auction of 2017 to 11 projects distributed throughout the Spanish geography.

Madrid, 8 of November, 2018 – X-ELIO, the leading global developer of photovoltaic solar nergy with presence in five continents, has strengthened its position in the Spanish market fter covering all the awarded power from the second renewable energy auction organized by the inistry for Ecologic Transition in 2017. The Company was the second most successful solar hotovoltaic bidder in the energy auction, with 455 MW.

X-Elio has fulfilled all the necessary commitments for the development of the 11 projects to which the power has been assigned. Thanks to this, the Company has received all the necessary administrative authorizations for the implementation of the solar energy projects. The plants are scheduled to come into operation throughout 2019.

The projects are distributed throughout the Spanish geography. Specifically, 160 MWp in Andalusia distributed in four plants, 90 MWp in Castilla La Mancha in two projects, 85 MWp in Extremadura in two solar parks, and two other plants totalling 85 MWp in Murcia. The portfolio is completed with a 40 MWp plant in Castilla y León. Thus, once all the projects are completed, X-ELIO will strengthen its leadership in the Spanish market by increasing its capacity to 620 MW and saving 821,314 tons of CO2 emissions per year in total throughout Spain.

Furthermore, this milestone is an addition to the innovation capacity demonstrated by the company in the development of energy projects. The group has recently signed its first Purchase Power Agreement (PPA) in the country, and is transferring this experience to other markets in Europe and the US.
