Lorca, 24th June 2024 – X-ELIO, a global leader specializing in the development, construction, and operation of renewable and sustainable energy projects, has donated 50 computers and audiovisual equipment such as projectors and screens, speakers, and headphones to the Colegio Rural Agrupado (CRA) of Pedanías Altas de Lorca.
The event took place during the end-of-year party for the students of Zarcilla de Ramos. With these “virtual classrooms,” the aim is to help interconnect the educational centers in the pedanías, while also providing a modern, digital, and accessible education for all students.
There are numerous community support initiatives with a strong social focus that X-ELIO carries out in this territory, where it is developing the ‘Lorca Solar’ plant of 386 MWp. This plant will produce 100% renewable and sustainable energy to meet the annual demand of approximately 215,000 households.

Today, it’s evident how the entire community benefits when a solar project moves forward with our Community Plan Program,” stated Isabel Ruiz Franco, Sustainability and Communication Manager at X-ELIO, during the donation event of the technological equipment. She was accompanied by school principals, teachers, representatives of parent associations (Ampas), and numerous parents of students.
In addition to this support for the Colegios Rurales Agrupados (CRA) of Pedanías Altas de Lorca, the renewable energy company has promoted other initiatives, including:
- Professional Training in Lorca
X-ELIO has successfully organized three editions of professional training certified by the Metal Foundation for Training, Qualification, and Employment on photovoltaic and wind installations, providing development and training opportunities for over a hundred individuals from the local community.
- Support for sports
X-ELIO has sponsored key sporting events in the region, such as the San Silvestre de Lorca 2023 and the 2nd and 3rd Editions of the Almirez mountain bike race in Zarcilla de Ramos, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among participants.
Additionally, over three consecutive seasons, X-ELIO has closely collaborated with the School of Football in the Pedanías Altas de Lorca, sponsoring sports and recreational activities in the youth categories to support the school and continue fostering a healthy lifestyle through sports among younger generations.
- Support for education
At CEIP Petra González in La Paca, X-ELIO has carried out significant actions to support education: from donating musical instruments to books and sustainable furniture, strengthening educational resources and the learning environment for students. X-ELIO has promoted reading habits among young students by donating hundreds of books and new collections, as well as restoring walls and murals, collaborating closely to enrich the resources available to the student community.
- Promotion of reading
At Juan Navarro School in La Hoya, X-ELIO has established an outdoor space called the “foldable library” crafted by a local provider, to enhance children’s reading habits. This library includes over a hundred books, also donated by the energy company.
- Support for diversity and inclusion
At the Rural Cluster Center of Zarcilla de Ramos, X-ELIO has provided resources and financial support for activities and projects aimed at promoting emotional education, inclusion, and understanding among students, such as the “emotional backpacks” program. The company has also donated outdoor activity tables and t-shirts for all students and teachers, aiming to encourage contact with nature and outdoor excursions.
- Funding community events
X-ELIO has funded an inter-school activity that involved an excursion organized in collaboration with a local company, reducing costs by 90% for families and facilitating the participation of all students.
Additionally, the company has financed the end-of-year gathering, promoting unity and cohesion among students, teachers, and families, thereby strengthening community spirit.
- Support for local culture and leisure
The photovoltaic company has also participated in the recent patron saint festivals of Zarcilla de Ramos and La Paca, sponsoring various recreational activities such as bouncy castles for children and outdoor communal lunches.
