Murcia, 13th December 2023 – X-ELIO, the world’s leading company specialising in the development, construction and operation of renewable and sustainable energy projects, celebrated its 15th anniversary in the Region of Murcia last night. The event, held at Espacio Odiseo, was attended by more than a hundred managers, entrepreneurs, authorities and partners of the company.
Lluís Noguera, President and CEO of the company, welcomed and thanked the attendees for their presence, including the Councillor of Environment, Universities, Research and Mar Menor, Juan María Vázquez; numerous mayors and town councillors from the municipalities of Abanilla, Campos del Río, Fortuna, Fuente Álamo, Lorca, Mula and Murcia, as well as the new General Secretary of CROEM, Ramón Avilés; the President of Ceclor, Juan Jódar; the President of Fremm, Alfonso Hernández Zapata; and the General Directors of Energy, Federico Miralles, and Info, Joaquín Gómez, among others.
During his speech, Lluís Noguera pointed out that “the current economic model is not sustainable over time. Industrial activity, the way we move and consume depend mainly on the burning of fossil fuels. All of this has raised global temperatures at an unprecedented speed“.
In view of this situation, the CEO of X-ELIO explained that “in Spain we have an unbeatable opportunity to change the current energy system for the better. For the first time, in the energy sector we do not depend on foreign raw materials and, moreover, we are dealing with sunlight, an inexhaustible source. We must be leaders and drivers of this transformation towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, electrifying the economy and transforming our society.
Arancha Martínez, X-ELIO’s country manager in Spain, also underlined the unique opportunity Spain has to be a leader in renewable energy and the essential role that companies like X-ELIO play in achieving this: “Having a good renewable energy project is important, but it is even more important to offer strength and reliability as a company, to guarantee strict compliance with legal requirements and to be faithful to a responsible business model and good corporate governance”.
The delegate of X-ELIO in the Region of Murcia, José Enrique Pardo, also addressed those in attendance to explain the enormous relevance of the projects that the company is going to start building next year. “X-ELIO has already put into operation around 250 MW in Murcia and another 50 MW in the province of Alicante. In the following weeks we will start the construction of three other projects in the region, which will add 530 MW”.
In this regard, José Enrique Pardo made special mention of Lorca Solar PV project, located in Zarcilla de Ramos district, “in which we will invest 270 million euros and we will ensure that this solar plant, on its own, will generate more than a third of the power of a nuclear reactor. It will be capable of supplying the annual consumption equivalent to 215,000 homes”.
The head of Sustainability and Communication at X-ELIO, Isabel Ruiz, listed the numerous environmental, social and promotion of health and sports actions that X-ELIO carries out in all the municipalities where it works, organised as part of the Community Plan.
Finally, the Councillor of Environment, University, Research and Mar Menor, Juan María Vázquez Rojas, was in charge of closing the event and highlighted that X-ELIO has been “15 years of success; 15 years that allow us to look back with the satisfaction of leaving behind us years of overcoming, creating jobs, generating wealth and, above all, leading an unstoppable energy transition. Not easy years, with an unprecedented economic crisis, a pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine and an unprecedented energy crisis. And despite all this, 15 years of success”. “15 years -he added- that allow us to look ahead with the strength to move towards a sustainable, competitive energy model committed to the climate neutrality that Europeans have set for 2050″.
