Madrid. 17 November 2017. X-ELIO, the global leader in photovoltaic solar energy, has been awarded a contract for 250 MW on offering the highest price in the Long-term-1/2017 Auction organised by CENACE (National Energy Control Centre) in Mexico. As such, the group obtained nearly 8% of the total megawatts awarded in the process, according to the auction terms.
Specifically, X-ELIO obtained an electricity supply contract to sell 435,354.48 MWh/year and 10 MW/year of firm power over 15 years.
It is expected that the power will be allocated to consumers with regulated tariffs (houses and SMEs). The power is to be generated at the Bacabachi photovoltaic solar plant, which X-ELIO plans to build in the state of Sonora. It will have an installed capacity of 250 MWp. With the addition of this contract, X-ELIO’s project portfolio in the country now comprises over 600 MW, distributed over five projects.
“The result of the energy auction in Mexico is evidence of X-ELIO’s position as an international benchmark in the photovoltaic energy sector. We believe in the potential of Mexico and Latin America as regards the renewable energy area and our strong presence in the region will help to enhance our growth.”
Jorge Barredo, Managing director of X-ELIO
