  • The new facility will produce 50 MW of 100% clean and sustainable energy, which will supply the equivalent of 20,525 households/year

Malpartida de Cáceres (Cáceres), 28 February 2024 The mayors of Malpartida de Cáceres, Alfredo Aguilera; the mayor of Cáceres, Rafael Mateos; and the mayor of Casar de Cáceres, Marta Jordán, together with the general secretaries of the Ministries of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Víctor Píriz and Víctor del Moral; and the country manager of X-ELIO in Spain, Arancha Martínez, took part today in the laying of the foundation stone of the ‘PSF Arco I’ photovoltaic plant.

The new plant has an investment of 41 million euros, distributed between the municipalities of Malpartida de Cáceres, Casar de Cáceres and Cáceres. The Negratín company, together with X-ELIO, will be responsible for preparing the land and assembling the panels and will install around 73,000 photovoltaic modules. When it comes into operation, the plant will produce 50 MW of 100% clean and sustainable energy, which is equivalent to the consumption of 20,525 households/year (estimated figure).

The ‘Arco I’ plant will be the seventh that the company has built in Extremadura. With this investment, in addition to other initiatives such as the opening of a permanent office in Mérida, X-ELIO demonstrates the strong commitment it is making to promote renewable energies in Extremadura.

In line with X-ELIO’s social commitment, the project’s development will be linked to a series of actions that will seek to promote the socio-economic well-being of nearby towns. Through the company’s Sustainable Communities Plan, initiatives related to education, local tourism and sustainable energy self-consumption will be promoted.

Arancha Martínez, Country Manager of X-ELIO, after welcoming all those attending the event held on the land where the plant will be located, explained all the technical details of the new infrastructure, and thanked “the commitment of the regional and local authorities to the economy and sustainable development”, while highlighting “the collaboration that X-ELIO has always found to carry out projects that generate wealth and employment in Extremadura.”

Víctor Píriz, Secretary General for Economy, Enterprise and Trade, and Víctor del Moral, Secretary General for Sustainable Development, Coordination and Water Planning, also highlighted the importance of new investments in the province of Cáceres, especially from companies such as X-ELIO, which are committed to clean and renewable energies, and which also have a firm commitment to the communities in which they operate.

Alfredo Aguilera, Mayor of Malpartida de Cáceres, thanked X-ELIO “for the sensitivity shown towards the municipality and the rural reality of the surrounding area, so that this project will benefit everyone, ensuring the socio-economic development of the affected localities.”

The mayors of Cáceres and Casar de Cáceres, through whose municipalities the Arco I evacuation lines will run, also expressed their commitment to innovation and the transformation of the productive fabric. In this respect, they underlined the importance of this project for the sustainable development of the local economy and the generation of employment.
