X-ELIO strengthens emergency preparedness in Funaki, Japan

  • The renewable energy company has donated a power generator, tents, and tools to support the local residents in the face of extreme weather events
  • This initiative, part of X-ELIO’s Community and Nature Plan, marks the company’s second donation in the area

13 June 2025. X-ELIO, a global leader in renewable energy, held a donation ceremony this morning to formally deliver emergency supplies to the residents of Funaki, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. The initiative is part of the company’s Community and Nature Plan, which aims to support the well-being of the areas where it operates.

To help the Funaki community better prepare for natural disasters such as earthquakes, heavy rainfall, and strong winds, X-ELIO provided emergency relief equipment, including a power generator, tents, and tools for building temporary shelters and sheds. The initiative underscores X-ELIO’s long-term commitment to the region, where it has developed a 14 MW solar plant. This is the second donation the company has made in the Funaki area. A previous contribution proved valuable during the tornadoes that affected the area last year.

The ceremony, held at the Funaki Community Promotion Center, was attended by the Chairman of the Funaki Community Promotion Council, Norihiko Hasegawa; X-ELIO’s Country Manager in Japan, Luis Perezagua; members of the council and X-ELIO; local residents; and members of the media.

Luis Perezagua, Country Manager of X-ELIO in Japan, stated: “Being an engaged neighbour in the communities where we operate is at the heart of X-ELIO’s spirit. We are proud to stand alongside the people of Funaki and contribute to its emergency preparedness, helping to improve its safety and resilience”.
