X-ELIO strengthens its commitment to Andalusia with the inauguration of its seventh solar plant in the region

  • The company has put into operation the CSF Cubillas plant in Albolote, Granada.
  • With an investment of €37 million, the facility has a capacity of 35 MW and will generate approximately 71,733 MWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of 20,500 households.

Albolote (Granada), March 26, 2025. X-ELIO, the global leader in renewable energy, has inaugurated its new CSF Cubillas photovoltaic plant in Albolote, Granada. The event was attended by the Regional Delegate for Industry, Energy, and Mines, Gumersindo Fernández; the Mayor of Albolote, Salustiano Ureña; and X-ELIO’s COO, Fernando Lacaci, among other institutional representatives.

The plant, which represents an investment of €37 million, has an installed capacity of 35 MW and an estimated annual production of 71,733 MWh. This amount is equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of 20,500 households, reinforcing the role of solar energy in the region’s decarbonization efforts.

With the commissioning of this facility, X-ELIO has now developed a total of 255 MW and seven plants in Andalusia. This milestone aligns with the company’s global growth strategy, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio.

Commitment to education and heritage in Albolote

As part of its socioeconomic commitment to the communities where it operates, X-ELIO integrates its projects within its Community Plan. In this case, the company signed an agreement in 2023 with the University of Granada to create the X-ELIO – Villa Romana Cortijo del Canal Chair, financed by X-ELIO.

This initiative has contributed to the research and preservation of the archaeological site, while also promoting educational and outreach activities, including university student participation, educational visits, and open days.

X-ELIO’s COO, Fernando Lacaci, stated that CSF Cubillas “is a clear example of our commitment to the energy transition in Andalusia. This project reflects our responsible approach to development and construction, applying the best environmental, technical, and safety practices while ensuring a positive impact on the local community.”

Meanwhile, the Regional Delegate for Industry, Energy, and Mines, Gumersindo Fernández, emphasized the significance of the investment and noted that “CSF Cubillas marks another step forward in Granada’s energy transition, showcasing a model of sustainable integration within the territory.”

The Mayor of Albolote, Salustiano Ureña, expressed: “We are proud to have a leading green energy company like X-ELIO in our municipality. Beyond developing this energy infrastructure, X-ELIO is also contributing to the preservation and promotion of Albolote’s cultural heritage.”

Finally, Professor Elena Sánchez, from the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology at the University of Granada, highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in heritage conservation. “Thanks to the X-ELIO – Villa Romana Cortijo del Canal Chair, we are already uncovering new insights into the importance of this site in Roman Hispania.”
