15th October 2024 – The renewable energy company X-ELIO, in collaboration with Malpartida de Cáceres Council, has today inaugurated four cabins aimed at promoting eco-tourism at ‘Los Barruecos’ Natural Monument. These new facilities, located in the visitor reception area, will serve as headquarters for entrepreneurs, SMEs, associations, or groups actively committed to the conservation of natural heritage and the environment. The goal is to promote sustainable development and create jobs related to nature.
During the inauguration event, the mayor of Malpartida de Cáceres, Alfredo Aguilera Alcántara, highlighted the importance of this initiative for the town: “With these new cabins, we are not only providing a space for eco-tourism professionals to carry out their activities but also contributing to the economic growth of the area in a sustainable and environmentally respectful way.”
Isabel Ruiz Franco, Head of Sustainability and Communication at X-ELIO, emphasized the company’s commitment to the environment and local development: “We are very proud to support this eco-tourism initiative in Los Barruecos. Nature-based tourism that promotes experiences in the most valuable natural spots, always under the premise of an active commitment to the environment.”
The inauguration of these eco-tourism cabins coincides with the construction of the Arco I photovoltaic solar plant, located in the same municipality of Malpartida de Cáceres. This plant, with an investment of 41 million euros, will generate 100% clean energy, capable of meeting the annual electricity demand of more than 20,000 homes.
