About the project

Maxwell Downs is a proposed Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Maxwell, approximately 15 minutes south of Wagga Wagga. The proposed site is located to the west of Holbrook Road, near the intersection of O’Briens Creek Road, and will be set back either side of Oxley Bridge Road and to the north of Maxwell Road.

The proposed project, which involves construction, operation and future decommissioning, aims to generate around 300MW of clean, renewable energy through photovoltaic panels, connecting to the national grid via nearby transmission lines. Onsite energy storage will enhance flexibility and reliability by aligning electricity generation with consumption.

We are preparing to submit a Scoping Report to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Industry (DPHI) in 2025.

 

 

 

 

Project footprint

In June 2022, X-ELIO submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Government based on a previous version of the proposed project. In response to feedback, we undertook further site investigations throughout 2023 and 2024 and have revised the project footprint to help address community concerns. Because of this change a new Scoping Report is being prepared and further community engagement is underway.
